Landon Metz was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and currently resides in New York City, where he creates large scale paintings, sculptures and installations.
From the first tear in preparing the canvas to the final hanging of a finished artwork, Metz meditates within an intentionally cyclical process. His respect of the practice as a whole allows him to explore the resonant act of repetition in a quiet appreciation of unseen and unspoken natural patterns. The earth reverberates with primal textures and curves, subtle forms which comfort both the present and inner eye. These observations are readily apparent in Metz’s childhood home of Arizona, where he finds inspiration in immense stratums of rocky peaks and dusks gradient to be explored within the white expanse of his Brooklyn studio.
